Management team
The members of EMCF's management team, led by CEO Jan Booij, each have many years of experience in equity and derivatives clearing. The team is committed to its goal of establishing EMCF as the most cost effective and reliable provider of clearing solutions.
 | Jan Booij, CEO
Jan Booij (54) is CEO of EMCF. Jan's career spans more than 30 years within the clearing and settlement industry. He is responsible for leading the growth of EMCF from a start-up unit of Fortis in March 2007 to the major player it is today.
Jan has been able to do this thanks to major and early success in bringing key Multilateral Trading Facilities (MTFs) on board. Jan is respected, both within EMCF and throughout the industry, for his vision of delivering the lowest prices and the most transparency for market participants trading in the rapidly growing MTF market.
Jan has worked within Fortis and its predecessor companies since 1975, including Fortis Bank Global Clearing (FBGC). In fact, Jan was a co-founder of the predecessor company to FBGC, which was then called Pierson Option Clearing. At FBGC, Jan was operations manager and held major positions in Amsterdam and Frankfurt. He was integral to setting up clearing offices in the UK, Germany and Hong Kong.
A Dutch citizen, Jan speaks fluent English, Dutch and German.

 | Theo Houwink ten Cate, Legal and Compliance
Theo Houwink ten Cate (54) is responsible for Legal & Compliance. Theo has over 25 years experience in international banking. He was CEO of a specialised Dutch bank, which was active in custody, clearing and securities lending from 1999 until 2004. He left the industry in 2004 to study law and pursue other interests until December 2009, when he joined EMCF.

 | Albert-Jan Huizing, Chief Information Officer
Albert-Jan Huizing (51) is EMCF's CIO and responsible for Business Development and IT. He was hired by Fortis in 2006 to arrange the EMCF service as a project manager. After the launch he was responsible for the rapid expansion in the number of markets supported from the initial 2 at the start in 2007 to 18 in 2010, as well as for the growth in the number of platforms connected. He acts as principal for the outsourced IT operations and is currently organising the insourcing of the IT operations.
Albert-Jan started his career in the finance industry developing an electronic trading system for futures for one of the Euronext predecessors in 1992. He was responsible for the migration from floor trading to fully electronic trading of equity options in Amsterdam. He held various management positions at Euronext in business development as well as in IT with emphasis on derivatives trading.
Albert-Jan was a scientist before turning to finance and holds a PhD in theoretical physics.

 | Arnoud Siegmann, Head of Risk Management
Arnoud Siegmann (39) serves as Head of Risk Management for EMCF, Europe's largest cash equity clearing counterparty. He has held this position since August 2008.
Arnoud is responsible for overseeing the risk management processes and systems of EMCF. He also serves as a member of the management team, having helped guide the company through its phenomenal growth in recent years. He has a long track record in risk oversight and clearing, having come from Fortis Clearing Americas, where he was also Head of Risk from 2001 to 2008. Prior to these roles, Arnoud was a consultant and a risk manager for Object+ BV and Extra Clearing BV. He has an MSC in Mathematics from Free University of Amsterdam where he specialised in financial derivatives. He speaks fluent English and Dutch. |
 | Björn Svensson, Managing Director Nordic Branch
Björn Svensson (50) is Managing Director for EMCF's Nordic branch and he has overall responsibility for client relations in that region.
He has held this position since February 2010, having previously been Group CIO at NCSD (Euroclear Finland and Sweden) working with Nordic integration. Björn has more than 25 years' experience in the Nordic market and holds an MBA in General Management from the Stockholm School of Economics.
He has significant experience in both management consultancy, IT and product development, in addition to the many senior management roles he has held.

 | Jan Treuren, Head of Business Development and Strategy
Jan Treuren (39) joint EMCF as Director of Business Development and Strategy in 2012. He was initially hired by EMCF to support the extension of Structured Products and the launch of the CATS platform to EMCF in 2011.
Jan has over 17 years experience in the custody, clearing and settlement industry. Before joining EMCF, Jan worked at ING Securities Services in Amsterdam until 1999, after he moved to Deutsche Bank Amsterdam. During this time, he worked on the opening of new custody and clearing markets like Netherlands, France, Belgium, Portugal, Dubai and different other projects and had roles as manager Operations, Products and Client Services. As Country Head DCS Euronext - Director, he was overall responsible for these markets, until he left in 2010.
